VCC Attends H.R.5520 Advocate Roundtable
The Veterans Cannabis Coalition, represented by founder Eric Goepel and Director of Communications Rose Feroah, participated in an advocate roundtable hosted by House Veterans Affairs Committee Ranking Member Tim Walz (MN) and Congressmen Earl Blumenauer (OR) and Lou Correa (CA) on April 27. The roundtable discussed H.R.5520, the VA Medicinal Cannabis Research Act, and a pathway forward to removing obstacles to cannabis research, utilizing the amazing capacity of the Department of Veterans Affairs to create medications, and bringing the option of cannabis to every veteran regardless of their zip code. One of VCC's aims is to ensure that the VA funds, researches, and develops cannabis medications that meet FDA approval and can be included in the VA pharmacy system.
Representatives of the country's leading veteran service organizations, including the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, and Wounded Warrior Project were all present. Americans for Safe Access, the American Psychological Association, the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), and industry group Acreage Holdings also contributed to the discussion.
